Notice of AIM FPG’s Efforts to Help Accelerate the Decarbonization Transition

Financial Products Group Co., Ltd. (FPG) announces that PROW Capital BV (PROW Capital, Headquarters: Netherlands) as fund manager has launched the Green Shipping Fund (GSF) in close collaboration with FPG Asset & Investment Management BV (FPG AIM, Headquarters: Netherlands) -Bas), an equity affiliate of FPG. FPG AIM is a shareholder of PROW Capital and has subscribed to participate with a significant economic interest in GSF. This is one of our group’s initiatives to contribute to the transition to a zero-emission transport industry. GSF provides credits to shipowners for investments in vessels or renovations that demonstrate measurable emission reductions, such as vessels that use fuel-efficient or next-generation fuels, to accelerate the transition to low-speed shipping. zero emissions*.

1. Overview

In the shipping industry, greenhouse gas emissions are expected to increase as the global economy grows and the volume of shipping expands. The International Maritime Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations, has set itself the goal of reducing CO2 emissions per transport work from international shipping by at least 40% by 2030 and aiming for 70% reduction. 2050 compared to 2008 levels. It is therefore essential that there is a rapid transition to decarbonisation from large-scale investments to achieve this.

FPG AIM and PROW Capital have sponsored and launched GSF to provide shipowners tackling environmental challenges with long-term, secure financing that will contribute to decarbonisation. The total amount of the fund is expected to be around 420 million euros / 55 billion yen. GSF will provide funding to shipowners located in Europe that meet strict investment criteria to acquire new and existing ships or retrofits that demonstrate measurable emissions reductions.

GSF is further structured, supported and strengthened by Banco Santander SA and Atradius Dutch State Business (Atradius DSB.). Atradius DSB is a member of the Atradius Group, one of the world’s largest credit insurers, and is responsible for trade insurance activities as the export credit agency of the Netherlands under of a contract with the Dutch government. As part of its activities, Atradius DSB supports and facilitates the transition to low-carbon and decarbonized shipping companies. FPG and FPG AIM consider the evaluation and subsequent support by Atradius DSB as a seal of their approval of the launch of GSF and the objectives of the fund.

FPG AIM supports the FPG Group in arranging transactions for the aircraft, vessel and shipping container leasing fund business, with offices in the Netherlands, Singapore, the United States and the Arab Emirates United. Since its inception in 2012, FPG AIM has arranged a total of more than 1.5 trillion yen in transactions for the FPG Group.

GSF is the first fund management project sponsored by AIM GIF. Using its knowledge and network with shipping companies, FPG AIM is not only sponsoring the launch of the Green Shipping Fund, but is also launching its own fund management business, which will include funds to help decarbonise the shipping industry. shipping and the achievement of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) while offering investors new investment opportunities.

FPG Group will continue to contribute to the achievement of a sustainable society by maximizing the use of the Group’s knowledge and expertise.

2. Outlook

There is no change in the forecast financial results for the year ending September 30, 2022 following the launch of this GSF fund.
