Malala Fund has opened applications for the position of Financial Associate, Global Operations.
Registered as a public charity in the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (USA), Malala Fund works for a world where all girls can learn for 12 years and lead without fear.
Responsibilities
- Prepare global operational invoices for processing and payment, and act as the primary administrator of the organization’s accounts payable tool
- Oversee and monitor major expense report uploads and financial entries, liaising closely with outsourced accounting firms in Nigeria, Pakistan, UK and elsewhere
- Assist the Controller and other finance staff in the creation and maintenance of project budgets, as well as the preparation of financial reports, dashboards and cash flow projections
- Assist and/or lead selected financial system assessment and improvement projects, working both independently and in partnership with other members of the finance team
- Reconcile certain bank and general ledger accounts for US and non-US entities, specifically assisting the development team in reconciling revenue
- Support the monthly payroll process as needed
- Assist in the preparation of annual filings and annual audits in the UK, Nigeria, Pakistan and elsewhere as required
- Participate in the annual budgeting process and semi-annual re-forecasting process, particularly in relation to budgeting for the Malala Fund in the UK and other non-US global entities
- Maintain supplier and subcontractor records as needed
- Cross-training and serve as primary back-up for accounting functions in the United States
- Perform other financial duties as requested by the Controller

Terms
- Familiarity with office administration and financial and accounting systems, ideally coupled with a degree in finance, accounting or a related field
- Extremely high attention to detail and very strong organizational skills
- Good judgment and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with efficiency and composure
- High degree of integrity, reliability and flexibility
- Ability to work well with colleagues, suppliers, contractors and various stakeholders towards common goals

- Previous experience with contracts, grantmaking, budget management, international taxation and/or financial reporting (strongly preferred)
- Financial and/or administrative exposure in at least one of Malala Fund’s operating countries (US, UK, Nigeria and/or Pakistan) preferred
